Inspiration can come from any and everywhere, when you least expect it. This morning I had a conversation with my neighbor that motivated and encouraged me to work harder towards my dreams. She was telling me about her sister and how she has recently received her first celebrity client, as a Hair Stylist. My neighbor was sharing the ups and downs her sister had to go through, as well as how hard she worked to get where she is today. There were a few things that stuck out to me during our conversation.
I had a conversation with a 30 year old woman the other day, and I asked her, “What’s your passion– you know, what are you good at?” She said in response, “Nothing.” I questioned her to there having to be something that she liked to do; anything that made her smile or light up. Whether it be a hobby, or just being in the presence of something. She remained to believe that she wasn’t good at anything, nor had any passion in life. It broke my heart to know that she believed she wasn’t good at anything.
So, it’s been almost a month now since I’ve made my last post. I guess I have some explaining to do for leaving you guys in the dark. I would like to apologize for leaving without an explanation or even a warning. This past month I have been going through a few personal things I rather not discuss, but long story short, I went on a minor hiatus to clear my head. This was good, because it has allowed me to reevaluate the direction in which I would like to take my brand and career. Now I am able to get back on track and take on fresh, new ideas.
Some may say hiatuses aren’t good, for them, or that they may set you back. When we fail to notice that we need those set-backs to help us spring forward. No one is perfect and everyone has their own struggles, which is why it is okay to step away from things to look at life and observe the big picture.
With that being said, I AM BACK! You should expect BIGGER and BETTER content from Vogue Binge! I have a few things up my sleeve, and I hope you guys are as excited as I am! Thank you for those who stuck with me through this little disconnect, as I kept you guys waiting. I also have been off on my weekly newsletters, which I MUST get back to.
Please, don’t ever think it’s not okay to take a break and step away from your projects, blogs, or whatever you may involved in. Sometimes we need that to help us figure out what’s best for us. That doesn’t mean the break of a lifetime (lol), but enough time for you to figure out what’s best for you and whatever may be going on in your life.
If you haven’t yet, subscribe to my weekly newsletter! Providing all you need to know in fashion; from the latest styles and trends, to shopping tips! Even a inspirational motivator to help you get through the week!
GAINING BACK YOUR MOTIVATION!
Through every moment we experience life changes, whether it be a break up, moving to a new state, or even graduating college. Although these are changes for the best, they sometimes may impact us in negative ways. It’s all about how we mentally handle the situation. When transitioning in to a new chapter in your life, it may be hard to stay motivated because of fear or doubt. Or even just because it’s a new situation and you’re unsure of how it will turn out. Whatever the reason may be, many of us have lacked motivation some point in our lives.
Since I recently graduated college, I have dedicated most of my time to pursuing a full-time career in Wardrobe Styling. Moving back home to Virginia Beach, I had to reconnect and network with locals. With less than a month, I was able to network with a lot of individuals within the fashion industry. I feel very blessed that God has put talented individuals in my path to work with and learn from. This past weekend I got a chance to work with great artists, including models, photographers, and makeup artists. I created my Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook and styled a urban street shoot.
Meet Coco & Breezy! These sisters are the epitome of a success story!
They used their creativity and style as a way to overcome their experience with bullying. Growing up, they were bullied for being different and maintaining a style of their own. Overcoming bullying for them wasn’t easy, but with the support of each other they were able to come out confident. It all came with an idea of designing their own pair of lenses that matched their style. Through a dream of going to New York and establishing their business, they were able to turn their idea into a business. After selling their cars and clothes for money and quitting their jobs, Coco and Breezy ventured off to New York with the “American Dream.” In small pad in New York is where their sunglass line took off.
Meet Keyshia Ka’Oir! Miss Ka’Oir is a stylist, model and CEO of KA’OIR. She has build her brand all on her own, with the support of her family and friends. As a determined young woman, she managed to stay driven and motivated despite the challenges that came her way. Keyshia started off as a model and actress, in which she established her career. Continuing towards her dreams, she came across an idea of starting a lipstick line, known as KA’OIR. Her line offers bright, bold colors you can’t find anywhere else.
