This is the moment I’ve been waiting for all week! I have been anxious to see J. Crew’s Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection! J. Crew has been making more appearances in fashion week to liven up their market and brand. Seeing their clothing in stores is one thing, but on the runway is even better! Viewing J. Crew designs on the runway gives you a better perspective of how the collection came to life. Each piece has its own personality that is translated through the model wearing it. As the brand continues to evolve, so does the J. Crew customer. Years ago the brand was solely known as the go-to clothing store for college kids. Now it has become the Mecca for those of all ages and lifestyles. Each look created within this collection targets a variety of styles, from the sophisticated business woman to the school prep.
One of the master minds behind the collection, Jenna Lyons says, “the breadth of the product is so different — there is always that undertone of casual and sort of menswear spirit.” I believe that’s what sets J. Crew apart from many other designers and brands.
The masculine touch within the designs, tied in with femininity, makes the collection one of a kind. Implementing tailored trousers and overcoats, creates a sophistication to each wear. Using bright colors adds a feminine element, which pulls the entire collection together. The structures of the garments are cut to a T and are soft enough for the preppy fashionista.
J. Crew includes two well-known fall/winter trends, which are bulky turtlenecks and oversized sweaters. The sweaters within the line are designed in a way which they can be both dressed casual and sophisticated. It makes styling these bulky pieces fun! You can wear them with a skirt if you’re feeling girly, or with a pair of jeans on a laid back day.
The fun doesn’t end there! It begins at the sequins filled skirt and blazer, that are styled in unique way. J. Crew takes advantage of layers, using different textures and color. I don’t know about you, but I highly enjoyed this collection!
Let me know what you think of the J. Crew Fall Ready-to-Wear 2015 collection! What’s your favorite collection from this New York Fashion Week?
